You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST in the NON-NUCLEAR INSPECTION DIVISION, QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will oversee off station projects both inside the Continental United States (CONUS) and outside CONUS.
You will advise project management, Code 130 management, and Code 200S on the status of certification on the project and/or problem areas that may impact or delay project certification or schedule.
You will review and concur with a variety of local and higher lever instructions and processes and to prepare and submit formal reports.
You will participate in NAVSEA sponsored audits internally and of other shipyards and entities within the NAVSEA Corporation.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
*Experience identifying and tracking discrepancies noted during documentation review.
*Experience initiating and distributing communication forms to applicable shops and/or codes for corrective action.
*Experience reviewing the forms for technical accuracy, completeness and compliance to the Technical Work Documents.
*Experience conducting special investigations, audits, and surveillances and preparing and delivering reports to management.
*Experience ensuring that the material condition of overhauled submarines' critical ships systems has been accomplished with compliance to all technical specifications and standards.
