You will serve as a SUPERVISORY QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the ENGINEERING and ANALYSIS DIVISION, QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will be the primary point of contact for all quality issues by monitoring and implementing a comprehensive procurement Quality Control Program.
You will investigate and identify Defect Material Reports (DMR) inspection data for defective nonconforming material and equipment and recommend disposition action.
You will ensure the disposition received for each Defect Material Reports (DMR) does not compromise the quality of the material/equipment being accepted.
You will review and analyze all Engineering and Planning Instructions pertaining to certification of Non-Level 1 material for Level 1 application to ensure the instructions meet quality requirements and ships specifications.
You will maintain a system to monitor the status of disposition actions for each Supply Deficiency Report (SDR).
You will review and evaluate Vendor Requests for Technical Evaluation (RTE) to ensure the RTEs are processed correctly.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You may be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Experience providing Quality Assurance functions such as the disposition of rejected material and ensuring that corrective actions are taken by vendors and the Defense Contract management Agency Navy Special Emphasis Office (DCMA-NSEO).
* Experience working with procurement and quality control procedures, production methods, and techniques or industrial processes required to control the quality of items during manufacture.
* Experience ensuring adherence to the operating procedures relating to quality, NAVSEA requirements, policies, and regulations.
* Experience directing others with the preparation of requisitions and purchase orders.
* Experience interpreting and monitoring compliance with contract and procurement regulations.
