You will serve as a SUPERVISORY QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST in the Quality Assurance Manager (Code 900Q), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will coordinate quality assurance (QA) methods for reviewing work on ship repairs or modifications. You will advise employees on quality assurance (QA) work procedures and techniques (e.g., engineering, inspection, testing, production, maintenance). You will explain requirements and procedures for quality assurance (QA) programs to others to gain support for the program. You will draft reports (e.g., technical reports, reports of investigation, reports of facility capabilities) to brief management on quality assurance (QA) program accomplishments.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying technical practices, techniques, and principles of quality management, casual analysis to develop agency plans, policies and procedures for acquisition quality assurance systems to be used by specialists in field contracting organizations. Experience using the concepts, principles and practices of Shipyard repair and overhaul of complex nuclear ships and submarines. Experience supervising a team regarding the work assigned including planning, execution, process management and resource management. Experience utilizing technical aspects of non-nuclear work, materials and the certification methods and techniques applicable to SUBSAFE.
