As a Government Information Specialist, you will analyze and prepare responses to the more technical, complex and sensitive
Freedom of Information Act/Privacy Act (FOIA/PA) requests.
This position is located in Washington, DC.
Duties
As a Government Information Specialist, you will:
Support the information effort by responding to incoming requests, orally and in writing, for information regarding the OCC and its programs.
Analyze and prepare responses to FOIA/PA requests requiring serious deliberation and involving sensitive issues. Review and prepare information for release in response to FOIA/Privacy Act requests. Prepare documentation for, and draft responses to, FOIA/PA requests, coordinating proposed disclosures of information for several entities within the agency.
Maintain database used to track enforcement actions.
Prepare a variety of management reports and assist the supervisor in preparing other reports, as assigned.
Review program records for responsiveness and suggest releasable determinations. Prepare records for release, including the redaction of materials to be withheld, and duplicating materials as necessary.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-IV band level or GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
Providing assistance in administering, analyzing, or performing work involved in establishing, disseminating or managing the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) programs in determining the releasability of requested records. AND
Drafting FOIA response letters some of which contain the denial of information based on the law; AND
Monitoring and tracking of projects and/or FOIA/Privacy Act requests, appeals and litigation in a case management database.
The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
