This position is located in the VA Construction Section of the Facility Management Service (FMS) at the Veteran Affairs Caribbean Health Care System (VACHS). The selectee will preform electrician duties. The selectee is assigned the electrical maintenance, repair and construction of building facility and equipment.
Duties
Include, but are not limited to:
Construct, install, modify, repair, troubleshoot (trace and locate problems), load and test new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls, communication (tele/data) and other electrical equipment.
Work under general supervision of a higher-grade foreman.
Determine work methods and trade technique to accomplish assignments.
Follow sketches, wiring diagrams or blueprints.
Diagnose problems and assist to perform emergency repairs to electrical equipment.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, may be required to work on weekends and/or holidays.

Physical Requirements: The work performed by employee is related to station level construction projects and requires lifting, carrying, pulling weights up to 75 pounds. Adjustments, repairs and replacement of parts and materials for assemblies may require kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders, reaching over, under and into equipment while in cramped or awkward positions.
