Duties
This position is located in an Air National Guard (ANG) Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). The purpose of this position is to serve as Information System Security Officer (ISSO), ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified information systems, networks and data through the enhancement of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools. Enhancement of information systems security programs, procedures, and tools are specifically accomplished by conducting vulnerability assessments and ensuring all protection needs are met
Duties
Serves as a technical expert and focal point for Information Technology (IT) security and information assurance policies, planning, programs, initiatives, certification and accreditation. Provides advice and assistance regarding security aspects of processing, storage, retrieval, transmission, and access of classified and unclassified information.
Reviews and implements local policies regarding system access, network rights, and physical access to systems and equipment. Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments of DoD classified information systems to identify associated vulnerabilities, risks and protection needs.
Provides input to the ANG Continuity of Operation Plan (COOP) procedures for system disaster recovery. COOP recovery includes reestablishment of systems at multiple sites and locations. Conducts evaluations to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Ensures system backups are performed to ensure expedient restoration of respective network equipment.
Reviews national, DOD and other policies, program proposals, operational and strategic plans, and identifies issues requiring tier two actions or inputs. Based on these reviews, provides technical recommendations for changes to the security posture to the Wing Information System Security Manager (ISSM).
Participates in inspections and surveys of computer system. Incumbent makes recommendations to the Wing ISSM on the approval of various computer operations based on security guidelines. When feasible, provides alternatives to the Wing ISSM and Group/Squadron Commander to meet security requirements based on the unique needs of the organization and mission requirements.
Develops recommendations or proposals involving a variety of specialized systems to improve operational efficiency.
Incumbent must analyze the vulnerabilities and weaknesses of existing computer security programs that could benefit from group training and translate those needs into training and education media for the ISSM. Designs and delivers to the Group/Squadron Commander tailored programs of instruction to reduce risks, increase the level of computer security awareness, and improve the security posture for the automated systems and activities.

Requirements
- Must possess a TOP SECRET clearance with SCI prior to appointment.
- This is an Information Security Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for certification at Level II in Information Assurance Technician (IAT-11) within 6 months or less of appointment to this position.
- Irregular and overtime ( compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
- This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Preemployment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE
All series personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level and must have a minimum of one year on-the-job experience in the grade immediately below the next higher level. An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.. Skilled in collecting, planning, and developing cyber program plans and the ability to apply a high level of sound and independent judgement in the solution of cyber program problems and cyber mission requirements.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Must have at least 12 months of experience on the Cyberspace Program's Protection Team training instructions and requirements, as well as, a full range of competencies on interpreting and directing all Cyberspace Program's training protocols, certification requirements, formal regulations, directives, and instructions. Experienced in collecting and correlating training requirements for operations personnel and created training plans specifically designed to address these program requirements. Experienced with reconciling training programs and plans that resulted in comprehensive unit training schedules for unit leadership
Must have a full-range of competencies as an experienced and qualified Evaluator Cyberspace Operator. Must have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of information technology, cyberspace operations, and the unit's tasked missions to develop and monitor unit policies and procedures. Experienced in delivering assessed changes to higher-level policies, standards, directives or operations manuals that provided impacts on unit plans, policies, programs or operations. Must have experiences in the cyber program regulations, procedures, policies, and guidelines. Skilled in presenting formal and informal briefing and written reports in regard to the Cyberspace program mission readiness.
