Clinical BHIP responsibilities include providing diagnostic assessments, individual and group psychotherapy, psychological testing, and case management services, as appropriate. The incumbent of this position is responsible for being the first-line supervisor of all Psychologists, Senior Social Workers and/or Social Workers, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), and Program Support Assistants assigned to BHIP within designated clinic; site location will vary. They will also serve as primary point of contact (POC) for all other BHIP team members (Peer Support Specialists, Psychiatrists, APRN s, etc.) at designated site on matters related to BHIP programing. Duties for the position may include but are not limited to: Provides direct clinical and administrative supervision to BHIP Psychologists, Senior Social Workers and/or Social Workers, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists (LMFT), and Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC). Develops short and long-range goals and plans related to strategic plan. Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure goal attainment. Participates fully in peer review, assessing the quality of professional standards provided in the organization. Evaluates and monitors the quality of the professional services provided by BHIP therapists. Works with administrative personnel to monitor data that tracks the effectiveness of treatment, quality of documentation, and levels of productivity for BHIP staff members, and provides timely feedback on their performance. Serves as the initial evaluator for BHIP Psychologists, Senior Social Workers and/or Social Workers, LMFTs, and LPCs, undergoing Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations, Focused Professional Practice Evaluations, and annual/semiannual employee evaluations. Responsible for mentoring BHIP staff on effective provision of psychotherapy, especially implementation of evidence-based psychotherapies. Responsible for managing disciplinary actions, as indicated, for BHIP staff at designated site. Responsible for program resources and elements of fiscal management. Provides clinical services including direct clinical care to Veterans being treated in BHIP, via Tele-Mental Health and face-to-face modalities. Develops comprehensive treatment plans in coordination with interdisciplinary team members, including goals, objectives and interventions for psychosocial clinical treatment. Provides individual, family, and group therapy services in accordance with the needs identified in the Veteran's treatment assessment and treatment plan. Participates in research as appropriate through case finding and referral of patients to clinical investigators engaged in research or through participating in research studies. Involved in the Psychology training programs, the training of social work interns, psychiatric residents, medical students, and nursing students, as appropriate. Other duties as assigned. Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. English Language Proficiency: Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j, this part. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: Social Worker (Program Coordinator), GS-13 Education and Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidates may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Skill in coordinating and implementing one or more specialty program(s), across the facility. Skill in local policy and practice development, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program as prescribed by the program handbook or national directive. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to further program goals and enhance patient centered care. Ability to provide the full range of supervisory duties including assignment of work to be performed; performance evaluations; and selection of staff, training, and recommendation of awards, advancements, and when appropriate, disciplinary action. Ability to oversee the fiscal matters of the functions supervised (including fund controls, contracts, and equipment expenditures), forecast resource and equipment needs, and administer the allocated budget. Knowledge of organizational structure and impact on program operations.
