About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Plans and Operations Division, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Duties
Provide program oversight to ensure timely operational support and integration of new logistical or changing concepts and to develop methods and techniques required for program execution.
Determine necessary actions to plan, establish, and develop overall operational logistics criteria and ensure allocation and proper use of resources.
Review logistics policies, procedures, equipment and support systems, which address operations, precedent-setting, controversial, sensitive and/or complex transportation and logistics support issues.
Establish and coordinate materiel staging sites to support receipt of force modernization packages.
Provide advice, action plans, and milestones, assistance, and direction in system analysis that may affect the fielding of integrated systems.
Develop and execute plans for the movement and receipt of freight.
Manage Government Furnished Material (GFM) and Equipment (GFE) related to contract support programs.
Develop plans to manage strategic and tactical continuous improvement initiatives in accordance with the Commander's strategic vision.
Prepare statistical and analytical reports, charts, and graphs for reporting transportation workload, tonnage, and future workload requirements.
Draft correspondence, briefings, plans, operations orders, and fragmentary orders to support operations.
Serve as the primary representative supports the installation Emergency Operations Center on a routine basis during exercises and real-world operations.
Requirements
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing logistical program oversight; 2) Assisting in planning, establishing, and/or developing operational logistics criteria; and 3) Providing recommendations to improve procedures and/or policies for logistics or transportation operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
