About the position: This position will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation, Kirtland AFB, NM. This position will be filled as Regular Full Time employment category. Regular Full Time is guaranteed 35.0 hrs/week and may be eligible for benefits such as Medical/Dental, Group Life, 401(k), and AFNAF Retirement. Outdoor Recreation/Program Experience desired. Planning, organizing, and supervisory experience preferred.

Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assists the Outdoor Recreation Manager in all Outdoor Recreation facility operational management and maintenance of the Outdoor Recreation Programs, to include: Work schedules, timekeeper, and resolves disputes/works out viable resolutions. Implements higher-level directives, formulates procedures and programs to ensure high standards of recreational programs and promotional programs. Leads or oversees programs and outings to include ensuring completion of after-action reports. Establishes, reviews, and evaluates rental/free issue/FamCamp/Pools/RV storage services and purchase of supplies, equipment, and resale merchandise. Establishes financial goals commensurate with market analysis of area or region. Prepares or oversees budget, analyzes financial results, and maintains solid financial condition of the facilities. Responsible for work force management, recruitment, and staff training. Manages real property resources and provides expert advice on renovations, improvements, minor and major construction. Promotes, organizes, schedules, and conducts programs, facility maintenance, special events, and daily staff activities. Conducts or ensures classes and lessons are conducted. Ensures all facilities and equipment are correctly maintained. Develops policies and procedures, which result in competent and effective operation and utilization of all assets. Performs surveillance over budget projections versus expenditures and accountability and disbursement of funds and evaluates and monitors facility use and personnel expenses and payroll, maintenance, and supply costs to maintain profitability. Manages and oversees all staff training to include web-based training and other training required by Air Force standards. Coordinates with all organizations needed for daily operations, special events, etc. Determines goals and objectives for each subordinate supervisor and staff. Oversees daily operations of the Outdoor Recreation facilities and operations. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have a valid, current state driver's license, or the ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment lift test and physical examination.

Qualifying Experience: Experience that demonstrated the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs. Planning, establishing, or evaluating a recreational curriculum for junior college or higher academic levels. Instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management. Serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations. Education: Major study -general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education. Incumbent must be able to lift, carry, and pull 50 pounds. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
