Duties

You will perform tasks involving skillful and diversified application of technical and engineering skills related to state-of-the-art technology for United States Navy Radar Systems and Combat Systems, You will serve as an Electronics Technician, a Test and Evaluation team member, and a Fleet Service Representative (FSR), requiring specialized knowledge of AN/SPY-6(V) Family of Systems, You must have knowledge of equipment maintenance and operation processes and principles related to radar systems life cycle sustainment, You will work independently and within Integrated Process Teams (IPTs) to interpret Technical and Performance Specifications to perform radar system technical assistance, You will be required to make independent decisions relating to operation, maintenance, modifications, installations and material support of fielded systems, You will collaborate with Program Office and Fleet Stakeholders in planning and coordinating efforts in reviewing Casualty Reporting (CASREP) for developing Courses of Action (COAs) in supporting U.S. Navy units, You will prepare formal reports, studies and documents which are properly organized, accurate, and effective, You will organize and present thoughts, plans, and results in a clear and concise manner in both formal and informal situations, You will negotiate and work toward consensus on controversial issues, You must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, communicating complex concepts to a broad spectrum of personnel, You will give presentations to all levels of management. You will review, analyze, investigate, and recommend solutions to critical design problems impacting the success of Navy's effort in development, fielding, instruction, distance support, maintenance, and operation of this system,

Requirements

  • This is a bargaining unit position (Virginia Beach, VA location only)
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You must be able to climb ladders, lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and work in Shipboard environments and government field locations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector evaluating technical electronics methods, techniques, procedures, or policies on the modifications, validity, test procedures and data of new or modified combat or weapons systems for surface ships.
