You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the Quality Assessment Division, Quality Assurance Department, of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.
Duties
You will plan and coordinate the Trident Refit Facility (TRF) Quality Assurance (QA) audit, surveillance and evaluation program.
You will prepare, plan for, and revise the distribution and balance of work assigned to improve effectiveness of accomplished work, increase productivity, meet auditing requirements, and ensure resources are identified and prioritized.
You will generate and assess trend analyses, benchmark data, and special reports in support of process improvement efforts.
You will conduct in-depth review and analysis of processes related to the maintenance and re-certification of critical submarine systems (e.g. SUBSAFE/hull integrity, Level 1, Controlled Work Packages (CWPs)), distributed or worked by TRF.
You will establish milestones to achieve project goals, audit functions, coordinating with NAVSEA, providing technical guidance, and coordinating the efforts of TRF personnel.
You will audit certification work performed for the Optical (Periscope) Regional Repair Center (ORRC) Corporate Component Repair Program (CCRP).
You will provide training and/or guidance regarding audit, surveillance, and evaluation matters to subordinate personnel and verify the certification criteria for personnel conducting or assisting in quality audits, such as SUBSAFE certification.
You will investigate, evaluate, and assess quality assurance controls, review procedures, Maintenance Control Records (MCR) and in-process work to ensure Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) generated will support ship re-certification.
You will handle, store, maintain, and ship various QA records to Federal Record Centers.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing quality assurance audits and surveillances of shipbuilding procedures and processes; analyzing quality data to identify operational or procedural quality deficiencies; and recommending corrective action to ensure ship overhaul, repair, or conversion projects meet quality and certification requirements.
