You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist (Shipbuilding) in the Quality Assurance Department, Non-Destructive Test Division - Code 630 of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.
Duties
You will develop and execute surveillance and audit plans, schedules, and attributes to sample and evaluate Nondestructive Testing (NDT) technical and administrative operations' conformance to procedural, technical and quality assurance requirements.
You will collect data from surveillances, audits, deficiency reports and examinations and utilize statistical analysis techniques to evaluate effectiveness of inspection systems, detect trends, and identify areas for improvement.
You will Identify causes of trends and potential problems and provide recommended corrective or preventive action plans to address weaknesses and prevent undesirable condition of NDT programs.
You will develop and maintain training plans, course content, training aids, mock-ups, schedules and exams.
You will deliver training to production NDT inspectors and other command inspection personnel to ensure adequate knowledge and proficiency to perform NDT inspections in accordance with technical requirements.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning and administering quality assurance surveillances or audits of Nondestructive Testing (NDT) processes and techniques; analyzing findings to identify negative trends; and developing new processes or techniques to remedy NDT quality deficiencies in support of the overhaul, conversion or repair of ships or submarines.
