You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (INSTRUCTOR) in the NON-NUCLEAR INSPECTION DIVISION, QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will train and instruct personnel within the Non-Nuclear Inspection Division. You will evaluate instructional approaches, develop student evaluation criteria, and evaluate performance in training. You will maintain training records and develop training reports. You will assess training needs, determine learning objectives and develop training schedules.

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience in preparing lesson plans and training materials based on trade knowledge. * Experience in knowledge of naval nuclear ships, non-nuclear systems operational and functional characteristics. * Experience in interpreting and applying technical requirements to non-nuclear quality inspection practices and translating these into effective training programs for non-nuclear ships systems inspectors. * Experience working with non-nuclear quality assurance test procedures and inspection techniques of systems. * Experience with Shipyard and NAVSEA requirements governing non-nuclear inspection, inspector training, and developing plans and approaches to ensure effective control of product quality. GS-11

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
