Duties
Performs routine occupational health technician duties which cover investigation, analysis and resolution of problems applying conventional methods.
Duties are related to the identification and evaluation of conditions in the work place which may adversely affect the health of employees at local military activities.
Performs audiograms, electrocardiograms, pulmonary function tests, and vision screenings.
Assists in collecting and analyzing data to observe trends in occupational illness and injury.
Performs or arranges for the calibration of equipment; places, operates and maintains field and laboratory instruments and equipment to measure physical agents such as noise, heat, light, ventilation, humidity and air contaminants.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Must be able to obtain certification by the Army Hearing Evaluation Automated Registry System (HEARS).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support in accordance with regulations and polices; orders equipment, and manages records; compiles data, information and familiarity using automated systems; and receives calls and greets visitors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
