About the Position: This Supervisory Health Technician position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties
Ensures that SPD provides the sterile instruments required to meets the BAMC's trauma and surgical missions.
Construct SPD schedule to ensure sufficient manning to accommodate safe coverage for 24-hour operations.
Ensuring proper protocol are followed in accordance with standards and policies as related to cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and processing of surgical instrumentation performed in the Sterilization Processing and Distribution services.
Identify, distribute and balance workload and tasks among personnel.
Providing instruction on technical and administrative matters.
Evaluating work performance and developing performance standards in Performance Management and Appraisal Program.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includesproviding guidance on decontamination, sterilization and storage of surgical equipment; conducting inventory of sterilization supplies; planning, directing and evaluating the work of subordinate employees.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
