This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, Office of Human Research Protections, located in Rockville, Maryland.

Duties

Evaluates data and prepares reports to assist management in identifying and/or addressing issues related to protections for human subjects in research. Manages work as assigned to ensure the success of one or more specific major programs or projects related to human subjects in research. Provides guidance, instruction and advice to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders responsible for and/or concerned with the protections for human subjects in research.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: GS-14: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing (4) of the (5) duties listed below: Interpreting and applying federal laws, policies, and regulations for human research protections including the Common Rule. Explaining relevant federal regulations, policies, and ethical considerations on human research protections in biomedical and health research. Communicating and writing for a diverse audience (including scientists, legislators, senior policymakers, and even the lay public) with stakes or interests in human research. Preparing and presenting reports, summaries and/or recommendations on numerous topics, including on new or innovative issues related to human research protections regulations and/or ethics; Speaking publicly to large and diverse audiences on human research protections issues and regulations. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
