This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves as the supported Combatant Command expert on the Joint Training System (ITS) and the Joint Exercise Life -cycle (JELC) and is authorized to coordinate independently with the supported CCMD.
Duties
As a DESK OFFICER(JOINT ACTIVITIES) at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Represents the JS at the annual Joint Exercise Planning and Scheduling conferences to plan out-year support.
Organizes, plans and leads the DDJT cross-directorate team in support of the ongoing CCMD's Joint Training Readiness and Exercise Program, nominally consisting of two, large-scale multi-million dollar Joint Training Exercises per year.
Assists the supported CCMD in the analysis of current National Military Strategy, Joint Strategic Capabilities Plans (JSCP), Presidential and Secretary of Defense Directives, Treaty Obligations, the current Unified Command Plan, Security Cooperation Plans, Department of Defense Directives, as well as their existing Operational Plans.
Responsible for annually developing exercise cost projections for contractor labor and travel costs as well as government travel funds required to support anticipated exercise support requirements.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
Organizes, plans and leads a Joint Training cross-directorate team in support of an ongoing Combatant Command (CCMD) Joint Training Readiness and Exercise program.
Analyzes current National Military Strategy, Joint Strategic Capabilities Plans (JSCP), Presidential and Secretary of Defense Directives, Treaty Obligations, Unified Command Plans, Security Cooperation Plans, and DoD Directives to support joint training excise objectives.
Utilizes budgetary policies, precedent setting decisions , procedures, and regulations to assure budget forecasts, estimates, and submissions conform to requirements, guidelines, and financial objectives for budgeting cycle.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level
