This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Policy Office. BJA's mission is to provide leadership and services in grant administration and criminal justice program development to support local, state, and tribal justice strategies to achieve safer communities. The Policy Office provides national leadership in criminal justice grant programs, training and technical assistance.
Duties
Serves as a Supervisory Grants Management Specialist (PREA) in the Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Policy Office.
Leads the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Management Office (PMO) which administers a national site-based grant program; certifies and oversees auditors; designs and directs training and technical assistance; and leads and manages stakeholder engagement.
Provides expert criminal justice advice and guidance on institutional corrections grant and cooperative agreement-related projects and programs with impact on major agency criminal justice programs.
Provides leadership in coordinating the goals, objectives and interests of the federal government in offering criminal justice grant program leadership to state, Tribal and local agencies and other criminal justice partners.

Qualifications
Selective Placement/Screen Out Factor:
Experience managing, directing and/or overseeing the implementation of policies related to the safety and security of people in multiple correctional facilities.
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Provides analysis and advice on corrections and Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) implementation program issues;
Plans and prepares documents related to corrections/PREA implementation;
Devises analytical techniques to evaluate findings related to corrections/PREA implementation programs;
Develops grant management policies in corrections/PREA implementation or serves as a technical expert in evaluation of discretionary grants and/or agreements related to corrections/PREA implementation.
