Duties
As a Physical Security Specialist you will:
Serve as a technical authority on the physical security program
Interpret and prepare implementing procedures and instructions based on general agency policy statements
Establish and monitor operating physical security systems to meet specific needs
Research and implement new and improved personnel security methods and procedures
Establish criteria for identifying and analyzing trends in personnel security violations
Schedule and conduct vulnerability and risk assessments of critical agency facilities and campuses throughout the United States
Review design and construction documents, blueprints and specifications to ensure all physical security requirements are captured, funded and implemented
Determine needed upgrades of intrusion detection, access control, passive and active barrier (vehicle) systems, pedestrian and vehicle screening and closed-circuit television
Serve as a Contracting Officer Representative for security contracts
Serve as a liaison with other agencies and local, state or federal partners

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: developing risk, vulnerability, and threat assessments; interpreting and preparing policy statements; establishing, monitoring, researching, and implementing security methods and procedures; designing and managing physical security protection systems; conducting security administration; preparing purchase requests (PRs), statement of works, (SOW) and acquisition plans.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
