This position is located in the Region II Office, Division of Reactor Safety (DRS), Plant Support Branch (PSB), Atlanta, GA.   The supervisor is Jannette Worosilo, Branch Chief, DRS/PSB. This position is in the Bargaining Unit with the National Treasury Employees Union, Chapter 208.  The position is subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements and security ownership reporting requirements.

Duties

As a Senior Physical Security Inspector, you will be responsible to lead, plan, and conduct inspections associated with physical security of light-water reactors, decommissioning reactors and independent spent fuel storage installations (ISFSIs) and fuel facilities, in accordance with the NRC inspection manual, to identify security vulnerabilities at sites and determine what type of threats exist and to verify that regulatory requirements are being satisfied.  Areas evaluated include:  Access Control, Access Authorization, Fitness-for-Duty, Equipment Performance Testing and Maintenance, Security Training, Protective Strategy, Target Sets, Protection of Safeguards, Security Plan Changes, Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation Security and Performance Indicator Verification.  Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to meet/maintain security & suitability requirements.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GG-13) in the Federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.  SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: Experience that demonstrates knowledge of physical protection systems, processes, techniques, equipment, hand held weapons, explosive devices, and procedures.  Such experience should have provided you with the full range of knowledge, skills and abilities addressed in the rating factor questions that are associated with this vacancy announcement.
