You will serve as an Electronics Mechanic Supervisor I in the Production Resources Department, Electrical Shop at the PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will fully support the Equal Employment Opportunity Program. You will inspect work in progress and upon completion to assure efficiency, economy, and safety of operation. You will perform planning and estimating duties in close cooperation with higher levels of supervision. You will test material and equipment. You will prepare layouts, patterns and sketches. You will perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: Setting priorities and planning division of workload among employees. Planning sequence of operations and work steps for groups of employees. Managing electrical work operations to meet established project deadlines. Performing installation, repair, troubleshooting, modification and testing of sophisticated electronic and navigation equipment and related components. Requisitioning tools, materials and equipment needed to complete work assignments.
