You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.
Duties
You will operate motor vehicles with an approximate gross weight up to 32,000 pounds when transporting hazardous waste or materials.
You will maneuver trucks (e.g., pickup, dump truck, water trucks, fork lifts, platform trucks) in close quarters or confined areas maintaining the safety of the vehicle and driver.
You will load and arrange cargo for safe transit on public roads at highway speeds or similar driving circumstances.
You will determine a safe turning radius of vehicles to prevent jackknifing.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CDL license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Using safety rules and regulations to operate vehicles up to and in excess of 32,000 lbs. in a safe manner; 2) Maneuvering over-sized vehicles and assessing traffic conditions locally and over long distance routes; 3) Operating a dual braking system on over-sized vehicles (especially on steep winding grades) to prevent trailer jackknife.
