About the Position: Serves as the Supply Specialist for Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), Troop Command, U. S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) Fort Sam Houston, TX, with responsibility for providing technical assistance on the HHC supply operation and the authority to plan, organize, coordinate and advise on supply operations, purchasing and contracting efforts.

Duties

The Supply Specialist plans, directs, and coordinates supply operational activities that involve purchasing equipment and supplies, conducting inventories, issuing supplies and procurement official for all credit card purchases. Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulation prior to entering information into General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS). Serves as a liaison with Resource Management Division, Defense Finance and Accounting System (DFAS), Directorate of Contracting, contractors and other government offices to resolve issues. Reviews all Financial Liability Investigations of Property Loss (FLIPL) for the HHC MEDCOM Commander.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • The incumbent must be capable of operating a motor vehicle, maintaining a valid state driver's license and be capable of being licensed on motor vehicles up to and including 5 tons (10,000 lbs.).
  • Drivers must have completed an approved Accident-Avoidance Course (AAC) in order to drive non-tactical vehicles dispatched from TMP. The incumbent will be required to obtain a government driver's license.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • This position is covered by the Army Substance Abuse Program. The incumbent is required to signa DA Form 5019-R and must pass urinalysis testing.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related filed. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision MakingManages Human ResourcesOrganizational AwarenessSupply Planning Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
