About the Position: Serves as a Supply Management Specialist who is responsible for all aspects of the Brigade logistics program and its operations. Provides technical guidance and direction for three subordinate personnel, located in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Serves as the principle staff advisor to the Brigade Executive Officer and Commander. Initiates, plans, and develops policy and requirements for logistical support. Prepares requests for personnel action such as recruitments, detail, reassign, awards, or promotions. Provides technical guidance to the financial liability officer during the investigation. Serves as the Contracting Officer’s Representative for services and equipment and monitors contractual services performed. Areas of responsibility include daily operations of the Brigade S-4, maintaining control and accountability of all Government expendable and non-expendable property.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is 5 percent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements. This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
  • Incumbent is authorize to carry a firearm. This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Incumbent must be experience and train as a Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR).
  • Incumbent must be experience and train as an Approving Official for International Merchant Purchase.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using knowledge of established supply systems in weighing the impact of variables such as cost, existing policies and procedures, data processing requirements; recommend actions to eliminate problems involved in delivering services to supply customers or in implementing policies; plan, evaluate, and select appropriate sites and facilities for storing items; determine the suitability and usefulness of existing storage sites and facilities, including both covered and open storage areas; make recommendations for implementing instructions covering established supply techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration and Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
