You will serve as a Fire Protection Inspector in the S-4 Department, Fire and Emergency Services Division of MCAS BEAUFORT SC.

Duties

You will plan for and carrying out inspection responsibilities to include inspecting buildings, facilities, and work processes for regulatory compliance. You will Performs spot re-inspection of buildings and areas to ascertain compliance with his recommendations on elimination of fire hazards. You will conduct periodic fire prevention classes, lectures, and demonstrations to base personnel, m1litary and civilian, to personnel of all tenant activities, base schools, and military dependent organizations. You will provide for the rescue and on-scene care of victims of fire, sudden illness, accidental injury or other incidents requiring medical attention. You will inspect and issue written hot work permits in any area outside of an approved welding shop, where work of an open flame nature is required.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license and a Class E License.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • Must possess the following: Fire Fighter I and II, Fire Inspector I and II, Fire Instructor I and II, National Registry Emergency Medical Technicians, Driver Operator Pumper; Hazardous Materials Operations and Awareness, EVOC.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain within the first year: Airport Fire Fighter; Driver Operator Aerial; Hazardous Materials Technician; ICS-100, 200, 700, 800; and Airfield Operators Permit.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Inspecting facilities and structures for fire hazards and fire protection deficiencies; 2) Interpreting code regulations and directives; 3) Maintaining fire inspection records; and 4) Providing training on fire safety practices and procedures.
