You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (DATA MANAGEMENT) in the Information Technology and Cyber Security Department (Code 109) of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will perform data analysis that requires knowledge of Corporate Application principles, concepts, policies and objectives using SQL Queries and UNIX commands for troubleshooting. You will manage internal and external interfaces and resolve interface issues and challenges during the design, test, and evaluation phases. You will analyze, troubleshoot and identify batch issues or aborts, and data anomalies. You will manage IT tickets by tracking, researching, resolving, reporting and documenting trends of customer reported IT issues. You will manage user accounts and user roles for the Corporate Applications and Account Management. You will perform risk assessment in identifying, evaluating and estimating the level of risk of data flow and interfaces. You will resolve application failures and interruptions to maintain operational continuity.

Requirements

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 42 level 1 within 6 months of appointment.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying knowledge of systems analysis and data and process modeling to develop and maintain data management systems to meet current and future business requirements of a large organization. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: 1. Attention to Detail- Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: developing and maintaining databases; generating complex queries and reports. 2. Customer Service- Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: managing user accounts; assisting in returning disrupted database systems to normal operations. 3. Oral Communication- Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: advising others of software application issues and situations; making presentations to user and other IT personnel; informing users of new methods and procedures. 4. Problem Solving- Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: diagnosing and resolvingcomplex data management problems and issues; researching and resolving IT tickets. Education

Education may be substituted for experience as follows:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management;
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
