About the Position: Serves as a Telecommunications Specialist for the g-3/5/7, US Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE), responsible for the implementation and support of various telecommunications systems used for the delivery of training throughout the MEDCoE.
Duties
Serves as audiovisual technical representative during multi-trade projects.
Provides audiovisual production support for lectures, speeches, and panel discussions held at MEDCoE or various other locations, including closed circuit broadcast capability and recording video images on electronic media.
Prepares or reviews statements of requirements and other requests for system integrations, equipment purchases, modifications or changes.
Receives Video Teleconference (VTC) reservations; schedules and coordinates conferences; tests and configures technologically advanced VTC and audiovisual equipment.
Solves problems which are unprecedented in nature and require innovation and the development of new techniques, enhancements, and services in all areas of audiovisual and VTC production
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Individual Occupational Requirements
Education
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.
Other Education: Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that included advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-for-month basis.
OR
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience with equipment specifications, computer-aided design, network standards and uses, and control systems programming; technical knowledge of telecommunications equipment operation to analyze, diagnose, and report technical problems/malfunctions or perform required maintenance; in-depth knowledge of multimedia and audiovisual integration, installing and maintaining integrated multimedia classrooms; familiarity with satellite closed circuit, and cable TV systems to adapt or develop guidelines for establishing and maintaining systems; and skill in developing a variety of visual aids for publications, exhibitions, and teleconferencing.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
