Duties
Serves as a senior Computer Specialist.
Plans future software environments and develops and carries out the installation, documentation, maintenance, tuning, optimization, modeling and trouble-shooting of the operating techniques and software systems which manage,
monitor or test Systems applied to Tank-Automotive materiel, both combat and tactical.
Performs IT tasks in support of users including maintaining centralized cross-platform authentication, maintaining software development environments, and assisting with teleconferencing equipment.
Installs new or changed system and applications software received from contractors for testing and verification purposes.
Designs, develops and installs operating systems and test management software.
Resolves problems (inconsistent or errant data, program failures, system shutdowns, etc) by analyzing machine code or high order language programming to detect cause of the problem,
researching and interpreting system manual, analyzing system coding dump to isolate error, trying language changes, parameter alterations, process reconfigurations, etc.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- This position may require temporary duty (TDY) business travel up to 20%.
- This position requires a three-year probationary period.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: To qualify at the DE-03/GS-12/13 equivalent grade level: Your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DE-02 pay band or equivalent grade level (GS-11) level in the Federal service which includes: (1) Trouble-shooting problems in the operating systems and software systems which manage, monitor or test vehicle systems; (2) Perform IT tasks in support of users including maintaining centralized cross-platform authentication, maintaining software development environments, and assisting with teleconferencing equipment; (3) Resolves problems by analyzing machine code or high order language programming to detect cause of the problem; AND (4) Designs, develops and installs operating systems and test management software unique to Vehicle applications.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE-02 pay band or equivalent grade level (GS-11).
