You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST (Command Government SAP, Security Officer (CGSSO)) in the FORCE SECURITY OFFICE, N2 within the COMMANDER SUBMARINE FORCE of PAC FLEET SUB FORCE OPS COMPONENT. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.9% will be added to the stated salary.

Duties

You will ensure all required security inspections are coordinated and conducted as required, and that any noted deficiencies are tracked and addressed. You will represent Command Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet on command security issues and liaisons with other security officers related to a specific security program. You will develop security awareness products and policies consistent with Department of the Navy regulations Results of the work are considered technically authoritative and are normally accepted without significant change. You will formulate, coordinate, and conduct the command security education program for a special security program to ensure that all personnel are cognizant of the latest security directives and procedures. You will ensure that all security publications required for the operations of the COMSUBPAC staff are on hand, and that all changes and corrections are made in a timely manner.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: monitoring established security systems and programs to identify security vulnerabilities or threats, and provide recommendations or resolutions for the enhancement of a security program.
