About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
Duties
Responsible for performing and overseeing daily operations for the tier II desktop, systems and customer support for Information Technology (IT) systems and users in the Regional Network Enterprise Center (RNEC) area of responsibility (AOR).
Supervise employees engaged in information technology work.
Review the work of subordinates and accepts amends or rejects such work.
Plan work to be accomplished, set priorities, and prepare schedules.
Serve as the senior technical specialist for all TIER II and network-based service problems and as the focal point for the installation of hardware and software and incident resolution to resolve computer malfunctions.
Respond to and tracks problem requests and/or customer requests that are elevated for all computer-related malfunctions, analyzes, and evaluates problems, and provides solutions.
Ensure that the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and services.
Coach the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques; provides advice on work methods, practices, and procedures.
Assist the team and/or individual members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position is designated Critical Sensitive -- to perform the duties of this position, the incumbent must be eligible for, receive, and retain a Top-Secret clearance based on a Tier 5 (T5) Investigation.
- This position requires compliance with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements – preemployment and random drug testing.
- The employee may be required to work shift work if the organization moves to a 24/7 operation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a government vehicle operator permit and may also be required to travel to various remote locations.
- The distances will vary depending upon requirements but can involve up to 40 miles or more for a round trip.
- Employee may be required to use cellular telephone and always maintain a working home telephone.
- This position has been designated mission essential.
- The incumbent will be required to report for and/or remain at work in dismissal or closure situations (adverse weather, emergency situations, disruption of power or water, interruption of public transportation, etc).
- Employee may be required to remain on duty or report for duty during severe weather or other installation closings.
- May be required to work overtime and other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Call back and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe the following quality experience:
coordinating the installation of hardware and software systems, supporting a virtual infrastructure; advising technical specialists and Systems Administrator on the development and testing of automation networks and a wide variety of associated support systems; providing timely implementation of new information systems and/or enhancements to existing systems; and conducting system testing and preventative maintenance, ensuring compliance with the organizations process.
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
