About the Position: The incumbent will perform administrative duties in support of the SHARP Academy.
Selection may be made at any grade level covered by this announcement with noncompetitive promotion to subsequent grade(s) upon completion of experience and time-in-grade requirements.
Duties
As an Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
Responsible for performing duties as the Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation) for the U.S. Army SHARP Academy (SHARP Training Proponent).
Attend organizational operational support and administrative support at conferences, meetings, and events as required and disseminate information that is obtained to the staff and faculty.
Receive and review all incoming SHARP Academy correspondence and determines importance and distribution of all, using professional judgement.
Prepare and/or assist Action Officers in preparing replies for general correspondence and specific correspondence as directed, to include internal and external briefings.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation; this is a condition of continued employment.
- The incumbent may be required to perform temporary duty (TDY) for business up to 5% of the time.
- This position requires the services of a qualified typist.

At the GS-4 level:
General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as those listed in the duties section above.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. At the GS-5 level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes tracking task due dates, utilizing computer software programs to prepare reports, and reserving travel accommodations using an online system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education substitution: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. [NOTE: You MUST submit your transcript(s).]

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours earned minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. [NOTE: You MUST submit your transcript(s).]
At the GS-6 level:
Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes researching regulations, tracking task due dates, utilizing computer software programs to prepare reports, and reserving travel accommodations using an online system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
NOTE: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. At the GS-06 grade level, you must meet the minimum qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted at this level.
Time in Grade Requirements:
At the GS-4 & GS-5 levels: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
At the GS-6 level: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
