About the Position: Provides technical expertise for the Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES) for coordination of force deployments of joint forces.
Duties
Responsible for development and refinement of tasked unit deployment plans to support ARNORTH and USNORTHCOM.
Coordinates force list development with USNORTHCOM, component commands and US Transportation Command and ensures force list is accurately portrayed.
Coordinates development of tasked unit Time Phased Force Deployment Data (TPFDD) procedures and automation.
Builds force modules in JOPES for tracking tasked unit deployments, providing analysis on deployment during execution.
During periods of crisis, incumbent may conduct shift work in the JOC for the duration of the incident.
Manages JOPES database for ARNORTH and allocated forces.
Regularly test new software in developmental stage and after fielding to find and determine acceptability or recommended appropriate changes.
Requirements
- Will be required to deploy within the NORTHCOM AOR on short notice (in under 24 hours).
- Incumbent will be expected to function in adverse climatic conditions and under intense physical and mental stress.
- Must be capable, upon completion of training, of unassisted donning of mission oriented protective posture (MOPP)
- Must be able to wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) or clothing such as boots, goggles, gloves, chemical mask and other safety equipment as required.
- Participation in the DOD/DA Immunization program to include live vaccinations as required by DOD/DA policy.
- Employee may be required to maintain a working telephone at all times.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to travel overnight away from home station up to 25% of the time.
- Overtime work may be required on short notice. Incumbent may be required to temporarily work extended and irregular tours of duty to include days, nights, shifts and weekends.
- A probationary period maybe required.
- A TOP Secret security Clearance is required.
- This is a Drug tested position.
- An initial pre-employment physical is required of the position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning deployment planning for military units; Ability to use automated tools to assist the decision-making process in planning force deployments and monitors regularly established milestones in order to provide guidance to subordinate organizations to ensure deployment plans follow guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
