You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIVISION of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

Duties

You will monitor and tune the systems environment within established due dates. You will manage accounts, privileges, and system access on a daily basis. You will perform installation and integration of systems fixes, updates, and enhancements. You will implement security procedures and tools to ensure rigorous security measures are in place. You will collect and analyze performance data on operational systems as per established standards. You will recommend changes to the system to ensure system maintains adequate capacity to perform required functions. You will evaluate new technologies for applicability.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 451 System Administrator, proficiency level intermediate. Incumbent is required to obtain/maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You must be willing and able to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

GS-9: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing Information Technology (IT) security support by installing operating systems and software components to ensure system availability and efficiency. GS-7: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing Information Technology (IT) security assistance by installing updates and enhancements to ensure system availability and efficiency. Education

Substitution of education for GS-09:
Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR

Successful completion of 2 full years (36 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

Substitution of education for GS-07:
Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

Successful completion of 1 full year (18 hours) of graduate level education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR

Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, and my education has equipped me with the competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position as described in the job opportunity announcement..
