Job opening: SUPERVISORY LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

You will serve as a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist within NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.

Duties

You will formulate policies, procedures, and instructions that are used within NAVSUP, Navy, and Department of Defense activities. You will participate in all phases of Integrated Product Support (IPS) planning and execution throughout the lifecycle of assigned weapons system. You will develop budget execution plans and monitor expenditure of funds to ensure cost effectiveness. You will attend logistics meetings and conferences with representatives from Department of the Navy, Department of Defense, and other industry personnel. You will assign work to subordinates, establish schedules and deadlines, and adjust program priorities as needed to ensure logistics objectives are met.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying expert knowledge of logistics and supply chain techniques, policies, and procedures to provide support for assigned weapons systems; 2) Coordinating with internal and external contacts to resolve complex logistics management problems; 3) Providing recommendations for enhancing efficiency of the supply systems, including incorporating the latest technological advancements; 4) Managing budget, staffing, and resource requirements for the division; and 5) Developing and implementing program plans to ensure life-cycle logistics support.
