You will serve as a Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC/CUSTSPT) in the Electronic Attack Wing, U.S. Pacific Fleet, of COMMANDER ELEC ATTACK WING PAC FLEET.

Duties

You will prepare and maintains required system documentation of certification of standalone systems in accordance with agency, major claimant, and local standards. You will confer with customers by analyzing and study of work methods used by customers provides recommendation modifications to accomplish the desired result and to take advantage of new and/or upgraded system capabilities and services You will analyze alternative approaches in order to advise on the merits of proposed service requests, designs, and design changes. You will plan, coordinate, or advise on work efforts, or to resolve issues or operating problems. You will ensure all requirements of Information Assurance/Security (INFOSEC) are applied to Navy and non-Navy systems are in compliant with DOD, DON, NETWARCOM, COMPACFLT, CNAF and CVWP instructions and directions. You will ensure information ownership responsibilities are established for each information system, to include accountability, access approvals, and special handling requirements. You will enable employees throughout customer organizations to effectively apply IT resources to accomplish mission requirements. You will maintain and update the squadron's public and extranet websites. Incumbent ensures the website is in compliant with DOD website security policy.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Designated IAM-II license/certificate. Within six (6) months of hire.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current DoN Civilian Cybersecurity/Information Assurance Workforce Commercial Certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code System Administrator (45), proficiency level BASIC the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing customer and information security support related to classified and unclassified networks by resolving Information Technology (IT) problems that enable an organization to accomplish mission requirements. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: Configure and program new equipment to meet end user requirements; Install software/hardware components, system peripherals, perform diagnostics, analyze results and affect repairs. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: Ensure timely customer service support to maximize customer abilities to use local training and maintenance information systems; assist customers in determining information requirements through system training and applications. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: Instruct computer use and software applications either one-to-one or in a classroom; provide technical advice and training support to personnel concerning communication requirements. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: resolving customer questions or problems concerning Information Technology (IT) automation systems, software and hardware problems; respond to system shutdowns, interruptions, failures and analyze problems, to determine reason and affect repair and/or replacement to restore operations. Education can be substituted for experience as described below:

Successful completion of a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
OR

Successful completion of 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
