You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC SUPERVISOR II in the MECHANICAL DIVISION (TRIREFFAC), TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, Intermediate Manintence Activity (IMA) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will be responsible for all submarine Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical system/equipment repair, maintenance, alteration, testing and inspection work associated with refit operations. You will plan on a quarterly or longer basis the overall use of subordinate personnel and other resources under your control. You will work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determine causes; implement corrective actions within your authority to resolve work problems. You will participate with management officials and or engineering personnel to develop qualitative and or quantitative work standards

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Must also be able to maintain an IT-II designation.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO SUPERVISE THROUGH SUBORDINATE SUPERVISORS Ability to provide 2nd level supervision of the Marine Machinery Mechanic Division, Shop 38. Knowledge and experience in planning, repair, maintenance, inspection and testing of submarine mechanical components and systems. Ability to plan, provide work direction, administer and supervise machine shop operations. Knowledge of production planning, setting long range goals, planning work assignments, establishing deadlines and setting priorities. Ability to communicate orally and in writing to all levels of management.
