About the Position: Serve as the assistant to the Visitor & Ceremonies Officer (VCO) at the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, Visitor Control Branch, performing a variety of duties to include managing the planning and coordination of events for distinguished visitors.
Duties
The duties listed below is not an all-inclusive list.
Develop, coordinate, and implement plans and itineraries in support of visiting senior U.S. and foreign dignitaries as well as social functions affiliated with the visits.
Ascertain food preferences or restrictions of visitors by researching customs and/or religious requirements of foreign dignitaries and endeavors to develop menus around these preferences.
Ensure proper audio and visual equipment is set up and utilized properly at functions that require such support.
Provide advice and assistance in matters of protocol, customs and courtesies of the army and other services, and customs and courtesies of other nations.
Support office requirements as well as requests from Command Group in such areas as graphics, artwork, pamphlets, programs, invitations, certificates, and drawings, etc.
Utilize knowledge and skill in office automation operates typewriter, personal computer, electronic mail, or other keyboard controlled equipment to prepare a variety of correspondence, bills, lists, invitations, messages, and similar items.
Distribute the weekly Major Events Calendar and projected visitors.
Ensure the Visitor Coordination Website (SharePoint) remains updated with visitor's itineraries, agendas, biographies and details for upcoming events.
Updates and maintains social databases.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance throughout the duration of employment.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning and coordinating events, utilizing Microsoft Office software programs to include SharePoint to perform administrative support duties such as, maintaining calendars, developing guest lists and creating invitations; and preparing briefings to communicate with senior-level staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
