About the Position: Serves as a General Supply Specialist performing duties in support of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and its geographic area of responsibility. This position is located with the Lyster Army Medical Center, Fort Novosel.
Duties
Provide Staff direction and guidance in supply, maintenance and warehouse management.
Perform technical Supply Management work related to Property Management.
Analyze inventories in relation to projected needs.
Prepare and maintain sub-hand receipts and prepare procedures for 100% annual or 10% monthly inventories.
Make purchases for command, control, communications, computer, and information technology (C4IT) equipment, warranty, and supplies.
Account for property and sub-hand receipts the property using the current Standard Army Management Information System (STAMIS).
Ensure that effective controls are in place to prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement.
Requirements
- 1. Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- 2. Tier 3 Position (Secret): Position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- 5. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
- 8. A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- 13. Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
- 20. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) maintaining property records for supply and equipment; (2) utilizing automated supply systems for inventory management and (3) implementing supply operating procedures.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: logistics, supply management, or other fields related to the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
