About the Position: This position performs receiving, inventories, and maintaining hazardous materials or wastes, and recyclable items. This position is located at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, which is a subordinate installation of Joint Munitions Command (JMC).
Duties
Receive and examine incoming and outgoing shipments of hazardous materials.
Select and set up storage locations considering hazardous materials components.
Inspect hazardous cargo and other components being received to determine and verify quantity and condition.
Maintains stock location accuracy for records.
Prepare documents or other forms documenting receipt, storage, and issuance of hazardous cargo, materials, or equipment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires an Arms, Ammunition and Explosives Security Certification and Screening in accordance Army Regulation (AR) 190-11.
- This position requires you to successfully complete the Hazardous Waste Management course within six months of being appointed to this position and attend annual Hazardous Waste Management Refresher course.
- The duties of this position requires you to possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position may require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position may require you to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.
- This position may require you to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- The duties of this position require you to work inside and outside with the possibility of exposure to inclement weather, hazardous and toxic substances, and adverse environmental conditions.

3) Using automated systems to track inventory.

Physical Efforts:
Work is performed on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, climbing ladders, and handling weights in excess of 40 pounds. Hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, side loaders, and other workers are available for assistance with heavier items. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Handles containerized hazardous materials daily, including highly flammable and extremely toxic substances where there exists the possibility of leaks that could cause exposure to the substance.
Work Conditions:
Work is performed inside areas that are moderately lighted, drafty, and dusty. Warehouse is well ventilated but has neither air conditioning nor heating. Work is performed both inside and outside, a substantial portion of which is performed outside in all kinds of weather. Worker is subject to burns while working with toxic materials. Due to the presence of hazardous materials, both in the atmosphere and on various types of objects handled, the worker must wear protective clothing of all levels such as rubberized suits, gloves, boots, aprons, and protective masks according to the work performed. Work is subject to traffic hazards while operating forklifts or driving vehicles. When responding to toxic agent incidents, stringent precautions and safeguards must be taken to prevent severe injury or death due to a spill or release of toxic chemical agents.
