You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Weapons Systems Branch (Code 292), Combat Systems Division (Code 290), Non Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will provide practical application of mechanical engineering principles to planning, production, and functional checkout of Combat Systems Equipment and components. You will prepare technical work documents. You will accomplish material identification and material requisition in a material ordering database.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience identifying and resolving changing work situations. Experience monitoring Cost and Schedule Performance and taking actions to correct negative trends. Experience implementing basic knowledge of Project Management Fundamentals. Experience and technical knowledge of nuclear aircraft carrier, surface combatant and/or submarine Combat Systems Equipment and components. Experience providing the practical application of mechanical, electronics, and electrical engineering principles to planning, production, and functional checkout of Combat Systems equipment and components.
