Duties

Investigate complaints to creates reports of findings in order to coordinate with staffs/agencies. Develop inspection plans to address the question to be answered in order to gather facts. Prepare formal report of findings citing specific examples to violations, errors and unsound practices in each case Identify all issues and specific actions needed to correct injustices and eliminate detrimental conditions to protect the best interest of the organization. Determine root cause of systemic problems to delegate problems to appropriate agencies for corrective actions, and prepares written reports of findings. Develop recommendations as to the required corrective action or revision in methods and procedures. Serve as Assistant Inspector General (IG) responsible for conducting assistance inquiries, investigations, and inspections.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Must attend and successfully complete the IG Course.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 50% of the time.
  • Term employment is subject to a one year trial period.

Specialized experience is defined as: Responding to allegations of misconduct and/or complaints to determine appropriate action, Conducting fact-finding investigations to protect the best interests of an agency or individual, Preparing inspection reports related to non-compliance to recommend corrective actions, OR Assisting in the development of inspection plans to collect data for the unique aspects of the organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance InspectionInformation ManagementResearchTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below and such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work:

GS-11 Level- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. (Must provide Transcripts)
