About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
Duties
Serve as the lead/supervisor, recommend solutions to staffing problems, engineering requirements, and work operations
Plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis.
Supervises/leads a team of workers in technical inspections and the repair of combat vehicles.
Supervises/leads a team of workers in the repair of complex weapon systems and componants under field conditions and large geographical areas.
Interviews candidates for vacancies and recommends selections Counsels employees on problems and adjusts informal complaints.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Current Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) employees in series 5803 positions will be considered to meet the required supervisor and leadership development course requirements for recruitment purposes.
- This position requires supervisors to obtain and sustain SDC (supervisor development course every 3 years) and DLAMP (Depot Leadership and Management Program) Certificate.
- Federal Wage System employees, WG/WL/WS etc, must satisfactorily complete the appropriate annual Depot Medical Examination.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform some tasks including by serving as working leader in accomplishing trades and labor work of Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanics. I explain work requirements, methods, and procedures to Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic by diagnosing defects and determines techniques to be used in the repair, rebuild, and modification of a variety of combat and tactical vehicles. I perform final tune up and repair to vehicles making precision fittings and adjustments to clearances which are close and difficult to attain. I perform operational test of vehicle, correcting any deficiency detected. I instruct subordinates in new procedures and provides advice when problems arise. I review work in progress or on completion.
