The position is located in the Acquisitions and Processing Section of the Music Division, Special Collections Directorate of Library Services. As part of one of the largest music libraries in the United States and in the world, the Acquisitions and Processing Section is crucial to the Music Division's mission of preparing for reader use special collection material of the performing arts: music, theater, and dance. The position description number for this position is 382922.    

Duties

Performs a broad range of archival work in a major body of records that include personal papers and organizational records in need of sorting and arrangement. Participates in preliminary review and handling of newly acquired papers or assigned collections. Removes duplicate and extraneous material as directed.

Qualifications

Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision. Knowledge of archival techniques and procedures.** Knowledge of music, dance, and/or theater subject areas of the archival collections.** Ability to utilize integrated library systems and other technologies. Ability to arrange, describe, preserve and secure archival materials. Ability to organize and execute work. Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
