This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Center for Legislative Archives of the Office of Records Services. The incumbent works under the general technical and administrative supervision of the Director, Assistant Director, and Senior Electronic Records Specialist, and focuses on records created by congressional committees, administrative offices in Congress, and other entities in Congress who create official records.
Duties
As an Archives Specialist, you will:
Assist the Senior Electronic Records Specialist in evaluating electronic records systems of congressional committees, administrative offices in Congress, and other entities in Congress.
Verify, preserve, and provide reference services on the Center's Congressional electronic and textual records.
Work with Center reference staff in accessioning, describing, screening, and preserving textual records which requires the application of practical knowledge of archival methods, procedures, and techniques, as well as analytical skills.
Assist the Senior Electronic Records Specialist with processing, transferring and accessioning electronic records of committees of the U.S. Congress to the Center.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the technical aspects of records, as well as trends and techniques involved in creating dynamic online finding aids.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Serving as a liaison to provide guidance and assistance on electronic records issues and management.; AND
Experience as an administrator for systems created to accession, preserve, and provide access to electronic records.; AND
Research, evaluate, and perform analysis of new technologies used for electronic records management.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
