This vacancy is for a Survey Technician position in the Atlanta Regional Office located in Atlanta, GA.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Survey Technician, GS-0303-06 FPL-06, positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Duties
Receives survey materials from the Bureau, checks to assure correctness and makes any necessary changes.
Assist in determining field assignments considering workload and location of field representatives' residence.
Answers a variety of inquiries from the field staff regarding survey procedures as well as trouble shooting for the laptop computer including how to obtain a replacement laptop and computer equipment.
Prepares and mails field representative assignments, collates work maps, key maps, segment folders and other necessary forms.
Requirements

- Relocation expenses will not be paid.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- The work schedule for this position is Mixed Tour. With a Mixed Tour work schedule, an employee may be changed between full-time, part-time and intermittent work schedules to accommodate fluctuating workloads and is subject to a signed agreement.

Specialized Experience:
For GS-06, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal services.
Experience for this position includes checking, reviewing, and editing incoming questionnaires for completeness and accuracy and identifying questionable responses; conducting telephone interviews on problem cases and recording information in a clear, concise manner; developing and streamlining methods of operation for office automation support such as: installing programs, creating data fields to track data, editing and preparing reports including graphs and charts, and establishing procedures; and troubleshooting hardware problems with laptop or personal computers.
Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
