Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for Grand Jury assistance work. Typical work assignments will include:
preparing documents pertaining to grand jurors and fact witnesses appearing before the grand jury
participating in the empanelment and orientation of new grand juries
monitoring terms and expiration dates for all grand juries
scheduling indictment presentations and grand jury investigative work
monitoring and keeping records of the status of grand jury subpoenas
reviewing grand jury functions in the district to ascertain program needs
reviewing and processing invoices for payment of grand jury documents and transcripts
composing and distributing a weekly grand jury report to all Criminal AUSAs
performing a cursory review of indictment packages
ensuring proper security for grand jury materials, files and records
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
GS-8: All applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the ability to perform criminal legal support work relating to the examination, preparation and processing of legal documents and using automated software to produce legal related reports, documents and information. Additionally, qualifying experience includes reviewing and processing invoices for payment.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
