About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.

Duties

Assists in establishing current and long-range program plans considering the mission of the installation, troop strength, budget, staff and facilities. Implements various service delivery models to maximize Soldier, Retiree, Family, Survivor and Civilian adaptability, promote self-reliance, resiliency and Readiness. Implements services that assist Service Members in fulfilling their responsibility to prepare their Families for their mission-related absences. Participates in the development, coordination, and integration of Army Community Service (ACS) services, and activities across multi-functional and specialized areas and among community organizations. Provides expertise to maximize Soldier, Retiree, Family, Survivor and Civilian adaptability, promotes self-reliance and Readiness. In collaboration with the supervisor, plans work to be accomplished-by small staff, sets priorities and establishes schedules for work completion. Assigns work based on priorities, requirements of assignments, and employee capabilities. Represent the ACS program with a variety of family and soldier activity councils and boards to stay informed on operations and/or to coordinate programs and requirements. Maintain liaison with civilian and military-related social and human services organizations. Coordinate services based on need. Provide referrals for specialized support and follow-up on actions to ensure appropriate linkage.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Counseling, Human Services, Marriage & Family Therapy, Child Psychology, or Addiction Counseling. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes serving as a community service representative on family activity committees such as councils or boards; and maintaining liaison with civilian and/or military related social and human services organizations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
