About the Position: The Chief of Staff position provides supervisory oversight and day-to-day instruction to Command Staff employees. Additionally, serves as District Protocol Officer and oversees the Leadership Development Program.

Duties

Serve as Chief of Staff for the US Army Corps of Engineers Charleston District (SAC). Provides supervisory oversight and day-to-day instruction to Command Staff employees. Provide advice and guidance to Command staff/employees regarding mission, vision, operations, policies, and procedures. Ensures team goals and objectives are consistent with organizational goals. Serve as District Protocol Officer and oversees the Leadership Development Program. Support the Charleston District Executive Office and Senior Leadership with the Administrative initiatives identified through Operations Plans, District policies, follow up and follow through with time sensitive taskers.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter.
  • Incumbent must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • A one year probation to assess the ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Minimum Qualifications for a Chief of Staff, GS-0301-13: One year of specialized experience which includes advising leadership with supportive guidance on administrative initiatives identified through Operations Plans, District policies, follow up and follow through with time sensitive taskers, ensure knowledge management initiatives are worked and reported. Addresses taskers, reports and taskers that are determined by Corporate Board, SAD and/or HQ USACE to ensure completion and compliance. Utilizes knowledge of total operations and broad managerial capability in performing duties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementLeadershipPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
