About the Position: Serves as the principal advisor to The Army Surgeon General in the development, coordination and execution of medical Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) policy, requirements, and capability development.
Duties
Ensure that medical CBRN defense programs are compatible with Army policy, program guidance, and decisions involving acquisition and funding.
Utilize the Planning, Programming, and Budget Execution System (PPBES) and expertise in all facets of medical CBRN operations at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels.
Coordinate input and provide Army Medical Department input to the DoD Chemical Biological Defense Program Annual Report to Congress.
Resolve problems through interface with multi-functional commanders, contractors, specialists, and professional personnel involved in the CB Defense Program .
Review, interpret, and direct the application of broad policy guidance from Congress, Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Department of Defense, other Services.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating all aspects of the medical Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) policy, requirements, and capability development. Provides review, coordination, and input for Chemical Biological Defense, The Joint Program Executive Office for CB Defense, The Joint Staff, Functional Capability Boards, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and Medical CBRN Defense Working Group for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on medical CBRN defense and medical aspects of non-medical CBRN defense actions and projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 or above).
