Duties
You will perform inspections of contractor crane operations for compliance of the NAVFAC SW Contractor Crane Oversight Program.
You will perform operational surveillances in the areas of crane and rigging operations, maintenance, inspection and weight test for certifications.
You will research, gather and interpret weight handling policies, guidance, and direction for the most recent and pertinent technical weight handling information.
You will provide written surveillance findings, analysis results, and corrective action recommendations to the NAVFAC SW WHE Program Manager
You will develop documented corrective actions to resolve deficiencies.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state class C driver’s license to travel to dispersed sites within the local commuting areas.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying modern weight handling theories, principles, methods, and procedures applicable to the operation and maintenance of a comprehensive range of weight handling equipment (WHE) and associated rigging gear; 2) Handling major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the NAVFAC SW weight handling program; 3)Applying understanding of manufacturer's crane load capacity charts, load indicators, and complex lift plans as defined in the NAVFAC P-307; and 4) Utilizing modern computer hardware and software to communicate and produce memos, letters, and reports related to WHE matters.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
